INDUSTRY VETERAN MARK CALDWELL JOINS PACIFIC BEACH DIGITAL AS CEO    

Sept. 2, 2009 –Pacific Beach Digital, a versatile video game developer based in San Diego, California, announced today that Mark Caldwell, a long-time industry veteran with a broad range of development experience across nearly every conceivable video game platform, has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer.

Caldwell was co-founder and employee number one of New World Computing, the makers of the ground-breaking Role-Playing and Strategy Games Might & Magic and Heroes of Might & Magic.  Caldwell also served as VP of Development at The 3DO Company, and later created Rapid Eye Entertainment and published the critically acclaimed RTS Lords of Everquest.

Caldwell has spent the last four years working at Midway Home Entertainment, where as Director of Development/Executive Producer  in the San Diego office, he was responsible for producing more than 20 games, including a massively-multiplayer online game (Lord of the Rings Online), First Person Shooter (Unreal Tournament III), Real-Time Strategy Game (Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War), Casual Games (Touchmaster Series), and Kids Games (Rampage)  with releases on all relevant platforms, including PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS, DSi, Xbox 360 and iPhone.

In 2006, Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War, executive produced by Caldwell and developed by Pacific Beach Digital, received the coveted 2006 Strategy Game of the Year award from the British Academy of Film and Television Actors (BAFTA).

Pacific Beach Digital was started in 2005 by veteran game programmers Daniele Gaetano and Scott Ray in the vacation like setting of Pacific Beach in San Diego.  Since then the company has shipped both PC and Xbox 360 titles, including Unreal Tournament III 360, Stranglehold PC, and Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War.
